Welcome to Peppermint Patty's Preschool and Day Care, Shawnee’s only continuous preschool education since 1960. We provide warm, loving care for children ages 1 through 12 in a small, personalized atmosphere.

STAFF
Our staff is passionate in its approach to offer a healthy, safe, and clean environment for your child to grow physically, emotionally and academically. The Director and all lead teachers have been with Peppermint Patty’s for four or more years, and we were recently awarded over $5,000 in additional, specialized training for all staff (not to mention nearly $8,000 for new classroom equipment).

ACTIVITIES
Curriculum
Peppermint Patty’s offers the hands-on, Montessori method to prepare your child for important life and learning skills:
• Care of self and environment • Independence • Social graces
• Speech and language growth • Reading and math skills • Science and culture subjects
A small center like Peppermint Patty’s allows teachers to emphasize academic programs for youngsters age 1 to 5, individualizing education to each child as needed. Our morning structure focuses on school academic readiness, while our afternoons encourage free play with age appropriate activities.

Playground
Our outdoor play space is larger than any center in the metro area. We have wooden playhouses, climbing structures, a swing, a bridge, sliding ploes as well as climbing and balancing chains. The children ride trikes on an asphalt path to learn appropriate traffic patterns and manners, play basketball and have an abundant amount of grass space to play kickball or soccer and run.

Imagination Garden
Learning also takes place in our outdoor garden. The children plant, grow, tend and harvest the vegetables, then enjoy them at the lunch table throughout the summer. Lessons take place right in the middle of the labrynth, a 9’ x 9’ space immursed within the plants.

We offer all-day programs for children 1 to 5 years of age and care for elementary-aged children, even when their schools are closed.

• All meals prepared on-site • Lunch and two snacks provided • Optional breakfast plan available

• Half-day preschool, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m; Mother's day out, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Summer program for elementary ages, June through August
• Grade school preparation for pre-K students
• Professional photographs taken during fall semester
• Book fair during spring semester
• Community Service Project during winter holidays to support local community
