First Wesleyan was founded in 1971. It is state licensed and has an enrollment of 127 children in its academic preschool and 155 more students in its K-8 Christian school. All preschool classes are full-day and meet M-F. Its hours of operation are 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. . The advanced traditional ABeka phonics program is taught begining with the two year olds. FWCS's four year old classes cover 90% of what is commonly taught in most public scholl kindergarten classes. FWCS kindegarteners graduate reading at near a second grade reading level.
