Description:
Cornerstone Early Learning Center is a non-profit, private, Christian, bilingual (English/Spanish) preschool program, devoted to excellence. Positions are available for children 3.5 - 5 years old.

CLASSROOM - Our classroom is bright, interesting and inviting! We choose materials that are natural (wood, metal, textiles, plants), and activities that invite curiosity, imaginative play, and scientific exploration. Our curriculum draws from the Reggio-Emilia approach, Creative Curriculum, and is grounded in Biblical values and beliefs.

TEACHER BACKGROUND - Degree in Early Childhood Education, and 9 years teaching experience, including Montebello Academy in Ecuador South America, and the Refugee and Immigrant Family Center in Seattle WA.

PROGRAM GOALS

We will promote:

Sincere faith: Free-will, 'from the heart' prayer. Biblical values taught and practiced through the day. Different Christ-like character traits emphasized each month.

Connection with community: Learn to be others-focused, put self in others shoes to develop empathy. Practice in classroom with other children, and gradually take
it outside to such places as nursing homes.

Global Perspectives: Realization that we are part of a big world that God has created! Emphasize diversity of cultures and languages. Heavy emphasis on
the home cultures represented in Wenatchee. Introduction through literary forms to cultures throughout the world, as well as
missionaries. Multi-ethnic class materials to reflect this diversity.

Bilingual learning: Many benefits of being bilingual from preschool; reinforce neurological connections between both sides of brain, tie together community, break
down barriers and misconceptions, establish mutual respect.

Natural learning: Using recycled materials as often as possible, using natural materials, planning future activities by drawing from children's expressed interests,
making learning fun, inviting, explorative, providing open-ended activities that promote scientific exploration.
