Wholesome Horizons Learning Center is a licensed home daycare and preschool located in Bolingbrook, IL, convenient to the Stevenson Expressway (I-55). Wholesome Horizons provides a structured, nurturing environment at an affordable cost. Infants and toddlers are provided an environment where they can explore through play and develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Preschoolers work towards gaining the social, emotional, and academic skills necessary for them to be successful in kindergarten and beyond. School age children receive a structured before and after school program that allows them time to complete homework, extend their learning, and/or relax after a long day! We place a SERIOUS emphasis on play at all ages! I participate in the USDA child care food program through Day Care Resources. I go above and beyond the minimum food program requirements by serving all-natural, nutritious, and mostly organic foods free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives, genetically modified ingredients, hydrogenated oils, and high-fructose corn syrup. I do not use juice to fulfill fruit and vegetable requirements and the only beverages I serve regularly are water and milk. I try to cook as much as possible from scratch using whole, unprocessed foods. I receive regular shipments of fresh, organic fruit and vegetables from Fruitshare and Door to Door Organics. Children have the opportunity to be connected to their food as they occasionally assist with baking and cooking in the kitchen. Continual exposure to foods and involvement in their production and preparation pave the way for life-long healthy eating patterns.
